Agri-food: Development of agro-poles in Meknes, Berkane, Tadla and Souss (minister)
Rabat – The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, indicated, Monday in Rabat, that the agropoles of Meknes, Berkane, Tadla and Souss have been developed as a new generation of integrated industrial platforms specialized in agri-food.
Mr. Sadiki, who was responding to an oral question in the House of Representatives asked by the Istiqlalien Group of Unity and Egalitarianism, stressed that the net area equipped in these platforms amounted to 253 hectares, while the number of marketed projects reached 294 projects, recalling that the ministry launched in 2009 an ambitious strategy to create 7 agropoles, in the initial phase, in the production basins of Meknes, Berkane, Tadla, Souss, Haouz, Gharb and Loukkos.
This strategy aims to create an appropriate framework for the integration of all agricultural value chains and the improvement of their yields, noted Mr. Sadiki, noting that the construction works of the Souss qualipole have been completed, while those of the first phase of the Loukkos agripole have started, as have the works related to the qualipole as well as the carrying out of technical and financial studies related to the construction of the Gharb and Haouz poles.
And to continue that the year 2023 will see the signing of the agreements relating to the Gharb and Haouz poles, the launch of development works and technical studies related to the construction works of the qualipoles, the continuation of the development works of the Loukkos pole, the launch of the construction works of the qualipoles, and the continuation and completion of the works and the marketing process of the poles of Meknes, Berkane, Tadla and Souss, as well as the construction of the units.
