SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Brazilian agribusiness exports rose 4.5% in the first half of this year against the same period in 2022, reaching a record value of US$82.8 billion, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock said on Friday. fair.

The 8% rise in the quantum index was responsible for the historical series rally, the ministry said in a statement, as the price index fell 3.2% in the period.

In the first six months of last year, Brazilian exports totaled US$79.24 billion.

The participation of exports in the total trade balance in June was almost 52%, while international shipments in the sector in the month reached 15.54 billion dollars, a decline of 0.6% in the annual comparison.

Even so, exports of grains, raw cane, beef and chicken in natura and cellulose touched records in the month, according to the folder.

“This scenario is explained by the sharp drop in the price index of our exports in the month (-12.9%), which slightly reduced the monthly value relative to June 2022, even with a significant increase in the volume index (+14.2 %)”, added the ministry.
