jpnn.com – Candidate for Deputy Governor of Central Sulawesi Abdul Karim Aljufri (AKA) spoke about the increasing threat of natural disasters in the form of floods inundating rice fields, drought, and changes in seasons that have the potential to cause a decrease in food production and even crop failure.
He said that as a result of the threat of hydro-meteorological disasters due to climate change and geological disasters, earthquakes would certainly have a major impact on the livelihoods of the people of Central Sulawesi.
AKA confirmed that he and gubernatorial candidate Ahmad Ali have prepared concrete steps including mitigation and adaptation efforts, as well as post-disaster protection policies.
“Mitigation socialization about potential, once again, I emphasize the “potential” threat of natural disasters including Megathrust must be carried out by the regional government, whoever the leader of Central Sulawesi is. We have experienced the Palu Sigi Donggala Parimo (PASIGALA) disaster, and that is a valuable lesson,” said AKA.
AKA also emphasized the need for policies and preparations to protect citizens in terms of their knowledge, mentality and livelihood.
Because according to him, the most tiring journey for the victims is when they live after the disaster.
Mental and physical recovery is one of the most important things for victims.
“Their suffering is not only when facing a disaster, but also after the disaster. Their food sources are gone, their mentality collapses. In that condition, leaders must be present both physically and in terms of policy. One of the policies that Ahmad Ali and I are proposing is agricultural insurance, that is one form of our presence later,” said AKA.
