“For us, the show is a crossroads of cooperation in the agricultural sector and associated sectors, in particular that of water, with African countries,” Mr. Sadiki said in a statement to the press, in which he looked back on the progress of this 16th edition of SIAM.
In this sense, he highlighted the importance of the “AAA” initiative (Adaptation of African Agriculture), the 4th annual ministerial conference of which was held last Monday in Meknes, as well as the 33rd session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Conference for Africa (ARC33), organized from 18 to 20 in Rabat.
And added: “During the entire week, we had bilateral meetings with African countries to discuss areas of cooperation according to the requests and specificities of each country.”
These axes focused mainly on the use of the Moroccan model for agricultural development, the best practices developed, climate change, training, research in the field of water, the valorization of value chains, in addition to aspects relating to fertilizers and soil fertilization, said Mr. Sadiki.
“This cooperation is today taking a very pragmatic form. We are carrying out concrete actions to transfer good practices to these countries. There are also things to learn from these countries, most of which have potential in terms of water, of soil and fertility,” he argued.
The minister also stressed that there are opportunities for Moroccan operators on the economic level in these African countries in terms of export and production.
Furthermore, Mr. Sadiki noted that this edition of SIAM, held under the theme “Climate and agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”, was characterized by a certain number of improvements made to the organization of this living room.
This show was also marked by the strong presence of digital, new and improved technologies, and technical approaches relating to adaptation and production systems in the agricultural field, he continued.
Supported by the presence of the “Agrodigital” Pole, this edition saw a remarkable participation of startups, which reflects the interest given to the mobilization of digital technologies in the agricultural sector, indicated the minister, noting that an improvement of 30 35% of agricultural economic growth could be achieved through the use of these new techniques in the sector.
Organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, SIAM sees the participation of nearly 70 countries, including Spain as the guest country of honor, and 1,500 exhibitors.
