The harvest of the 2023 second crop of corn arrived on Thursday (25) at 0.8% of the estimated area for the Center-South of Brazil, against 1.2% in the same period last year, according to data from AgRural. Work is still concentrated in Mato Grosso, where the pace is a little slower than a year ago.
Last week, AgRural also completed a new corn production estimate for the 2022/23 crop year. Total production increased from 125.1 million tons estimated in April to 127.4 million. The main reason for the increase came from the off-season, whose estimated production rose from 95.9 million to 97.9 million tons.
A new review will be carried out in the second half of June, the month in which rains and temperatures will still be very important for defining the final size of the off-season crop, especially in states where planting took place later.
