Saleh stressed that “this crisis was caused by the Presidential Council’s overstepping of its duties and responsibilities specified in the political agreement and its leaping over the jurisdictions of the House of Representatives and the State Council,” reiterating his emphasis that “the Presidential Council bears full responsibility for storming the Central Bank and tampering with its contents, the latest of which was what happened in one of its most important financial and information departments.”
For her part, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Rosemary DiCarlo, stressed “the necessity of resuming the political process immediately after ending the crisis of the Central Bank of Libya, so that we can move towards forming a unified government, ending the political and institutional division, and working to organize presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously. She also praised the achievements made in the field of reconstruction, development, and national reconciliation in southern Libya.”
