Aguila Saleh meets DiCarlo.. Confirmation of resolving the Central Bank crisis and calls for elections

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, met with the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the United Nations, Rosemary DiCarlo, in the city of Qubbah to discuss ways to resolve the crisis of the Central Bank of Libya, and the necessity of holding general elections, according to the media office of the House of Representatives.

According to the spokesman for the council, Abdullah Blihaq, Aguila Saleh stressed the need to adhere to the terms of the political agreement and the “Bouznika Agreement” regarding sovereign positions, with regard to the crisis of the central bank, stressing that the “violations” by the Presidential Council are the cause of the crisis.

Blihaq added that Aguila Saleh “held the Presidential Council fully responsible during the meeting for storming the Central Bank and tampering with its contents.”

For its part, the UN mission said that DiCarlo stressed during her meeting with Saleh the need to agree on a path that would end the current political impasse and lead to holding general elections.

The mission statement added that DiCarlo “renewed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting a comprehensive Libyan-led political process to achieve the Libyan people’s aspirations for peace and stability.”

At the end of the visit, DiCarlo announced the conclusion of her 4-day visit to Libya, during which she met with the President of the Presidential Council and its members, in addition to the Head of the Government of National Unity, and finally the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
