jpnn.comPALU – Central Sulawesi gubernatorial candidate Ahmad Ali criticized the unprofessionalism of the referee who led the Central Sulawesi vs Aceh football team match in the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) at the Dimurthala Stadium, Banda Aceh, Saturday (14/9).

“Don’t let us be shown elephant football again. The referee must be professional. Don’t destroy the hopes of young people,” said Ahmad Ali in his statement.

Ahmad Ali assessed that the performance of Eko Agus Sugiharto, the referee who led the PON football match between Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) vs Aceh, was unprofessional and did not act fairly.

He hopes the controversial referee will be sanctioned. To make the country’s football more advanced, professionalism of referees on the field is needed.

“My message to Mr. Erick Thohir (PSSI General Chairman), I respectfully ask Mr. Erick Thohir to thoroughly investigate and sanction the referee so that he is not involved in Indonesian football. It is clear that we are being shown an unprofessional referee,” he said.

Ahmad Ali said it was natural for the players and people of Central Sulawesi to be angry when they saw the referee not acting fairly in the Central Sulawesi vs Aceh match last night.

Similar criticism was also conveyed by Abdul Karim Aljufri.

“If you can’t enforce the rules, can’t be fair, don’t be a referee,” said the young politician who is familiarly called AKA.
