jpnn.comPARIGI MOUTONG – Central Sulawesi gubernatorial candidate Ahmad Ali together with prospective deputy gubernatorial candidate Abdul Karim Aljufri visited the flood-affected community in Sausu Piore Village, Sausu District, Parigi Moutong Regency, Friday (6/9).
During the visit, Ahmad Ali and his entourage provided free health check-up services. The flood-affected community also received social assistance (bansos) in the form of basic food packages.
“Our visit here has nothing to do with politics. This is purely a humanitarian matter,” said Ahmad Ali.
The two-term member of the Indonesian House of Representatives admitted to having special attention to disasters in this area. According to him, the local government must have a special program to handle disasters.
“We know that in Central Sulawesi there are many areas that are prone to disasters, especially floods. But the mitigation has not been going well, in the future the government must work on this. Then, how can the disasters that occur not disrupt the economy of the community, especially farmers,” he said.
As is known, floods again hit the Parigi Moutong Regency area, Central Sulawesi on Tuesday (3/9).
The flood not only submerged a number of residents’ houses in Sausu Piore Village, but also submerged the community’s rice fields. (tan/jpnn)
