by times news cr

A partnership agreement formalizing the launch in Rabat, under the aegis of UNESCO, of the AI Movement, as the first category II AI Center in Africa, was signed on Monday in Rabat, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the High-Level Forum on Artificial Intelligence (June 3-5).

Led by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, a world-renowned AI expert, the center was designated a UNESCO Category II center in November 2023. Concretely, AI Movement has been recognized as a center of excellence in the field of AI and data sciences on the African continent.

AI Movement works for the development of AI through the establishment of an appropriate ecosystem based around seven pillars, namely:

-The training.

By organizing training for young people, starting with the 8-14 age group, as well as for company executives through an executive Master’s degree in “AI and governance”.

-Research & development.

The Centre is called upon to play a driving role in this area for the whole of Africa with a view to developing technological solutions anchored in the reality of the continent.

L’innovation.

Making AI a vector for the development of young people by setting up a program dedicated to African women to help them set up their AI projects and integrate the innovation market.

Technology transfer to society.

With the implementation of acculturation programs within companies, through the creation of laboratories intended for the training of executives and the carrying out of projects requiring R&D in AI.

Strategic studies.

AI Movement has developed, in cooperation with the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES), a report containing recommendations for the development of AI. Studies on AI governance will allow it to participate at the global level and make Africa’s voice heard on this crucial subject.

Field studies.

They enable us to better understand the African context and provide Made in Africa solutions to African problems.

National and international cooperation.

AI Movement is developing a lot by taking advantage of the vast network of partnerships available to UM6P (more than 80 partner universities).
