AI Studio Behind Mahabharat to Adapt Indonesian Myths

The artificial intelligence studio behind the Indian television series Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh has secured an exclusive cross-border intellectual property partnership to adapt Indonesian mythological narratives for international streaming platforms.

Cross-Border IP Pact Targets Indonesian Mythology

The artificial intelligence production studio that gained recognition for creating India’s Mahabharat series has officially expanded its generative content pipeline into Southeast Asia through a cross-border partnership announced on October 25, 2026. The agreement grants exclusive rights to adapt Indonesian mythological and historical stories, marking a strategic shift toward pan-Asian content development.

The venture unites several key entities, including studio developer Galleri5, Collective Studios’ Historyverse—which handles original intellectual property and studio work for Collective Artists Network—and the Singhasari Special Economic Zone. Projects developed under the partnership will span mythology, fantasy, history, and animation, with local creators and cultural specialists working alongside Historyverse’s IP development team.

Production Timeline and “Echoes of Nusantara”

The first project under active discussion carries the working title Echoes of Nusantara, an original mythology-adventure. Historyverse will lead creative development, production, and intellectual property packaging, collaborating with local talent to prepare the projects for potential financing, production, and distribution outside Indonesia.

G5 AI Studio Powers Creative Output and Workflows

The creative output relies on Galleri5’s proprietary platform, G5 AI Studio, which combines more than 200 AI models with purpose-built tools for storyboarding, character and world design, animation, visual effects, and film-quality video. The technology was previously deployed for Star Plus and JioHotstar’s Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, which was launched by JioStar and Collective Media Network.

Beyond the Indonesian partnership, Galleri5 is developing workflows for Historyverse’s upcoming theatrical slate, which includes Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal and “Krishna.” These domestic Indian productions provide a testing ground for refining the technology against real-world creative and production demands.

Indonesia Uses Special Economic Zones to Grow AI Productivity

Indonesian officials view the partnership as a deliberate step to integrate local creators into advanced technology sectors rather than remaining solely consumers of foreign digital media. Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia’s coordinating minister for economic affairs and chairman of the National Council for Special Economic Zones, emphasized that the country intends to help shape artificial intelligence development.

We intend to help shape it. Special Economic Zones allow us to turn that ambition into real productivity, skilled jobs for our young people and new sources of growth on the path to 8 percent.

The Singhasari Special Economic Zone will introduce the venture to local creators, studios, investors, distributors, and creative-economy institutions while establishing local partnerships and routes to market. KRAT David Santoso KR, CEO of Lokanima and the Singhasari Special Economic Zone, noted that the region historically served as a center for government, arts, and scholarship enriched by centuries of contact with India.

Today, with our partners from India, we are bringing that history back to life, this time by mastering the AI transformation. Our aim is to build new competitiveness for Indonesia in the new-technology and digital-content subsectors, with Indonesian talent and IP at its heart.

Reflecting on the historical ties between the nations, India’s ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, pointed out that the Ramayana and the Mahabharata have inhabited Indonesian temple culture and the popular imagination for over a millennium, making the joint venture the next chapter of a shared story told through artificial intelligence.
