New Delhi: The Supreme Court has ordered an interim stay on the election for the post of AIADMK General Secretary in an appeal filed by OPS.

The appeal case filed by O. Panneerselvam against the AIADMK General Committee came up for hearing in the Supreme Court today. The judges then said that they would take up the case after Dussehra vacation.

Meanwhile, on the OPS side, AIADMK executives are preparing to conduct elections for the post of general secretary. Therefore, the holding of elections should be banned until the case is heard. Or, it was argued that status quo should be ordered to continue.

The judges then intervened and told the EPS side, “Now you are in charge, then what is the rush to hold the election?” They questioned that.

Following this, the EPS side approved that “we will not hold general secretary elections”. After recording this, the judges ordered an interim stay on the AIADMK general secretary election. Further, in the appeal case continued by OPS, the EPS party issued a notice to respond and adjourned the hearing.
