AIADMK office key case: Supreme Court dismisses OPS plea | How can OPS claim after expulsion from party? Supreme Court Question

New Delhi: The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by the OPS against the High Court order that the keys of the AIADMK office should be handed over to Edappadi Palaniswami.

After riots took place at the AIADMK headquarters in Rayapetta, Chennai on July 11, the office was sealed. The seal was removed on the orders of the High Court and the keys of the office were handed over to Palaniswami. Against this order, O. Panneerselvam had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court. In this case, a reply was filed by EPS.

The case came up for hearing today in the session of Judge DY Chandrachud. At that time, arguments were presented by the OPS seeking to quash the High Court order. The judges then said, “When the petitioner has been removed from the OPS party, how can he claim the key of the office to be handed over to him? Can the petitioner file a case in the Court of Law and seek legal relief?” They questioned that.

At that time, OPS argued, “I am still claiming the right as the coordinator of AIADMK”.

Subsequently, the judges heard the case and dismissed the appeal filed against the High Court verdict ordering the key of the AIADMK office to be handed over to Edappadi Palaniswami.
