Delhi: AICC will not intervene in the controversy related to Shashi Tharoor’s Kerala tour as part of strengthening its influence in Kerala. The party’s central leadership is of the view that they should not interfere in the matter for the time being and let the KPCC solve the problem. Shashi Tharoor, who contested for the post of Congress president, was not given any duties in the AICC. His tour of the districts of Malabar in Kerala where he met religious leaders, front leaders and party workers was a source of displeasure to the state leadership of the Congress. The incident of Youth Congress leaving the seminar in Kozhikode and DCC leaving the program in Kannur caused a lot of controversy and the party itself was tired.
Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan has sent a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and KPCC President K Sudhakaran asking them to find out the reason behind the withdrawal of the Youth Congress Kozhikode district committee from conducting the seminar. K Muraleedharan also came forward today against the action of opposition leader VD Satheesan who indirectly criticized Tharoor’s programs as sectarian activity and groupism. KPCC president K Sudhakaran, on the other hand, is not interested in responding to the controversy. The issue has caused a major rift within the party in the state.
Meanwhile, the Oommenchandy faction has decided to prepare a platform for Tharoor in Kottayam. A grand meeting of the Youth Congress will be held in Eratupetta on December 3. Shashi Tharoor will participate in this. VD Satheesan’s picture has been omitted from the poster of the program organized by the Youth Congress district committee. Meanwhile, KC Venugopal’s picture has been posted. Kottayam Youth Congress district president is Chintu Kurian Joy, a confidant of Oommen Chandy. The Youth Congress leadership clarified that the platform is being prepared for Tharoor with the knowledge of Oommen Chandy. But a section of A group is unhappy with this move. However, the Youth Congress decided to go ahead with the program.
