by time news

A terrible tragedy has frozen the town of Gorrevod in Ain this weekend. A three-year-old child died overnight from Saturday to Sunday at the Woman-Mother-Child Hospital in Bron, near Lyon, after being hit by a football goal according to Le Progrès. The tragedy occurred on Saturday in a sports complex in the city, in the middle of a futsal tournament (indoor football).

The little girl, who came with her mother to support her big sister who was taking part in the tournament, was running near a removable cage when it fell around 11:45 a.m. in circumstances that remain to be determined. Conscious in the minutes following the shock, the little girl would have quickly complained of pain before making a first cardiac arrest, according to the regional newspaper. The emergency services, quickly on the spot, then tried to resuscitate her before transferring her to the hospital a few hours later by helicopter.

Hours of struggle

After several scans of the head yielding nothing, the caregivers in fact discovered that his liver had been punctured, no doubt in the shock with the cage. After hours of struggle to try to keep her alive, she succumbed to internal bleeding around 3:30 am.

The Ain gendarmes opened an investigation late Sunday afternoon to determine the exact circumstances that led to this tragic accident.
