Air Calédonie announces a social plan which provides for approximately hundreds of layoffs

A third of the airline’s employees may be fired, as a result of the violence that has occurred on the island since May 13.

The airline company Air Calédonie announced on Wednesday that it has started a social plan which provides for those withdrawal of a third of its workers, the result of violence which has shaken the southern Pacific archipelago since June 13.

Riots linked to the reform of the electoral body built by the separatists have caused a sudden stop of traffic for the domestic company that has 350 employees and provides most of the air connections between Grande Terre and the other islands of the island.
