As you may recall, the issue of air defense has come up several times since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, when in recent months Kiev called on Israel to supply them with “Iron Dome” air defense systems. Jerusalem has so far refrained from sending weapons to Ukraine, so as not to risk a crisis with Russia – which has already threatened in recent days that the transfer of weapons could lead to damage to diplomatic relations between the countries.

At the same time, Iran’s rapprochement with Russia and Russia’s use of Iranian drones in recent weeks have renewed Ukraine’s calls for air defense assistance. Last night Kolba called on the European Union to impose sanctions on Iran following its arms sales to Russia, and today he said that he recommended to President Vladimir Zelensky to act to sever diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Tehran as soon as possible.
