The flight personnel of the mixed aviation formation of the Eastern Military District in the Khabarovsk Territory began to perform one of the most difficult elements of flight training – refueling in the air, the press service of the Air Defense Forces reported.
“Refueling is carried out from the Il-78 tanker of the military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, taking into account the observance of the established requirements for height and speed when performing this type of flight training,” the message says.
The standard for refueling is fulfilled by fighter pilots on the Su-30SM and Su-35S aircraft, as well as by bomber aircraft on the Su-34. Flights are carried out in the altitude range from two to five thousand meters at a speed of about 600 kilometers per hour.
Air training takes place both during the day and at night. At night, additional lighting is used for refueling, installed on the tanker and on aircraft receiving fuel.
