Air Europa has canceled 114 flights during the eight new days of strike that will be seconded by their pilots between the Next Monday and June 2convened by the Sepla union, after the first four, carried out at the beginning of May, resulted in 68 suppressed operations.

After the publication on Friday by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) of the resolution of minimum services for this new mobilization of Air Europa pilots, the company has communicated this Saturday the modifications in its programming for the days May 22, 23, 25, 26, 29 and 30 and June 1 and 2.

In the first five days of the strike, as well as on June 1, the airline will stop operating 14 flights on each of them, while on May 30, there will be 18 operations canceled and, the last (June 2 ), a total of 12.

The affected routes

The routes affected by the cancellations are the national that connect Madrid with Bilbao, La Coruña, Palma de Mallorca, Vigo or Málaga, and the international to Rome (Fiumicino), Milan (Malpensa), Paris-Orly, Porto or Lisbon, in addition to the one that connects Barcelona and Palma.

The Spanish Union of Airline Pilots (sepla) has called these mobilizations at Air Europa and that it could extend to the coming summer months, given “the company’s zero interest in resolving the labor conflict generated by its managers, by not addressing the legitimate labor and wage claims from the workers”.

According to Sepla, “it is the only way out that the company has forced in defense of a fair professional future for pilots, who cannot cede the labor rights included in the IV Collective Agreement or lose greater purchasing power.”

the minimum services

After the four days of protest at the beginning of May, in which 18 flights were canceled in the first two, respectively, and 16 in each of the last two, the union filed an appeal against Mitma for what it considers the “abusive” application of minimal servicesby protecting more than 90% of the airline’s flights, which has been admitted for processing by the National Court.

Likewise, Sepla has announced the possibility of carrying out a nationwide unemployment by the pilots of all the airlines against the ministry, if it does not reconsider and abide by the recommendations made by the National Court on the application of minimum services in various sentences in recent years.

The last step taken by Sepla has been to denounce the behavior of Air Europa for having refused to allow the union to send the ministry a detailed report on its national and international flights and the alternatives that passengers have to them so that the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) can define, with a greater analysis, the application of the minimum services.
