The mess to come at airports this Christmas? The UNAC and SNGAF unions of Air France cabin crew have filed a strike notice for the period from December 22 to January 2 against the backdrop of a social dispute over the collective agreement for hostesses and stewards, according to a joint union leaflet released on Tuesday.
“This notice must serve as a warning to our management”, warn the two unions. If this “is not heard, only a strong mobilization will be able to tip the scales. We are faced with a management that understands, alas, only the balance of power, even if it means taking the risk of degrading the activity in a period as important as the end of year celebrations, ”they continue.
“A passage in force” of the direction
These two unions denounce the absence of a contract extending the collective agreement beyond its period of validity for the time of social negotiations and castigate a “pure and simple forced passage” by a “direction note”. “To find oneself at the mercy of a management which, with the stroke of a pen, can modify as it pleases everything related to our profession is unacceptable”, they write.
They ask for a “temporary contractual solution to replace the collective agreement” of the aircrew “the time of the negotiation” and “no unilateral measure”, in a letter to the management dated November 14 and published on the website of the unions. . Air France did not react on Wednesday to the threat of a social movement which could weigh down the end-of-year holiday period, crucial for the aviation sector which is slowly recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.
