Because according to the airline, “some customer feedback indicates a demand for more comprehensive services and a la carte service” on short and medium flights. Free snacks are always offered such as hot and cold drinks, followed depending on the schedule by sweet biscuits or sandwiches, available, but can be supplemented by other paid products.

Connections to Lisbon and Helsinki

Only a few airlines are affected by the first tests which will start in early 2025. “Economy class flights to and from Lisbon (Portugal) and Helsinki (Finland)”, explains Air France. All customers will be notified individually in advance.

On the Business side, the service will remain unchanged in the cabin. Premium passengers retain their full service consisting of a cold plate signed by a chef, along with hot and cold drinks and a selection of wines and champagne. Likewise on long flights, where travelers will continue to benefit from their services free of charge.

Ryanair was the first airline to introduce a paid meal model on its flights in the 1990s, allowing it to reduce the cost of flights. Since then, many companies have followed, such as Lufthansa and British Airways.
