The National Union of Air Traffic Controllers wants to mobilize in mid-September. According to information from RTL, the SNCTA has just filed a national strike notice for Friday, September 15. This mobilization of air traffic controllers could cause major disruptions at airports.

The union “calls for mobilization in order to record the catch-up of inflation and the establishment of mandatory annual negotiations”, quotes the radio.

The Usac-CGT denounced in June in the Senate a bill aimed at better organizing air traffic in the event of a strike. It would be a “questioning of the right to strike. (…) The promulgation of this law would constitute an extraordinary setback to this constitutional right,” according to the organization.

One month before the strike of October 13

Currently, unions in air traffic control must file any strike notice five days before a movement, but strikers do not have to declare their individual participation, unlike other employees in the sector. They will have to do so from now on under this bill.

The Minister Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune, said he was in favor of such a change in the law after a surprise work stoppage on February 11 by air traffic controllers, in the absence of a call for a strike, which had led the DGAC to have one out of two flights at Paris-Orly canceled in disaster.

The inter-union (CFDT, CGT, FO, CFTC, CFE-CGC, Unsa, Solidaires, FSU) should also announce in a press release this Monday a mobilization for October 13 in order to demand the increase in wages in this period of inflation.
