Responding to three oral questions on the “new features of the tourism sector recovery strategy”, Ms. Ammor indicated that the ministry has established several partnerships with tour operators and online travel agencies, adding that several areas are currently being implemented, including the promotion and improvement of air links, the diversification of the tourist offer, the strengthening of infrastructure, the development of domestic tourism and the qualification of human resources.
Regarding the development of domestic tourism, the Roadmap developed has devoted two important sectors, namely “Domestic Tourism – Seaside” and “Domestic Tourism – Nature and Discovery”, in order to develop new tourist products that meet the requirements of Moroccan tourists, said the Minister, stressing that the challenge is to encourage domestic tourism throughout the year, so that all Moroccans can benefit from the tourist attractions of their country.
Regarding human resources, she recalled that there are three dedicated programs, including the “middle managers” program and the “quality continuing education” program, as well as the launch, for the first time, of the “validation of acquired experience” program for the benefit of 7,550 people between 2023 and 2026.
Ms. Ammor also noted that the Roadmap “is beginning to bear fruit”, specifying that the ministry has focused on diversifying the tourist offer for 12 regions and has signed implementation contracts with eight regions.
Presenting the digital indicators, the minister said: “Our country has recorded record achievements in the tourism sector, with 14.5 million tourists visiting our country in 2023, an increase of 34% compared to 2022. The sector also generated 105 billion dirhams in foreign exchange earnings in 2023, an increase of 27 billion dirhams compared to 2019.”
Furthermore, she stressed that Morocco is experiencing “exceptional growth” in the first half of 2024, with the arrival of 7.4 million tourists, representing an increase of 14% compared to 2023 and 38% compared to 2019.
In this regard, the minister specified that “the objectives provided for an additional million tourists for the whole of 2024, while Morocco welcomed in just six months more than 900,000 additional tourists.”
