Airbus and LanzaJe have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)within the framework of the Paris Air Show.

The agreement establishes a relationship between Airbus and LanzaJet to advance the construction of SAF facilities that will use LanzaJet’s leading, proven and patented Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) technology.

This agreement also aims to accelerate the certification and adoption of 100% ‘drop-in’ SAF which would allow existing aircraft to fly without fossil fuel.

At this time, the SAF is one of the most immediate solutions to decarbonise aviation together with the renewal of fleets for next-generation aircraft and better operations.

Likewise, Airbus Flight Academy Europe, a 100% subsidiary of Airbus that provides training services for pilots of the French Armed Forces and civilian cadets, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aura Aero, an aircraft manufacturer specializing in all-electric designs. , to jointly address the decarbonisation of pilot training by introducing electrically powered aircraft for commercial and military pilot training.

Under this agreement, Airbus Flight Academy Europe will collaborate in the initial development of the Integral E, an all-electric two-seat trainer aircraft.

Operating from an airfield equipped with superchargers, the Integral E aircraft can be charged in 20 to 30 minutes, giving it an hour of flight autonomy.

Airbus has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Leonardo to jointly promote integrated training systems and explore future solutions to meet air domain challenges.

Within the framework of this collaboration, both companies will look for business opportunities for the supply of advanced training systems, taking advantage of the proven experience of the M-346, thanks to the more than 100,000 flight hours carried out worldwide by the aircraft.

Airbus and Leonardo will also deepen industrial cooperation to address future domains of military pilot training.
