Airtel has conducted the test
Airtel earlier this year removed the Rs 99 pack from some regions for a trial run. The tariff hike strategy is in line with the objectives of the telcos to expand into rural areas, which further erodes profits. Analysts said growing subscriber numbers and demands for MNP (Mobile Number Portability) point to increasing competition in the Indian telecom industry.

Meanwhile, according to TRAI’s October 2022 customer data, the number of Vodafone Idea customers has dropped to 3.5 million. It is noteworthy that Jio and Airtel together have attracted 2.2 million new users.
