Airtel plans to increase the prices of its recharge plans in the middle of this year.

After the entry of Jio, the number of customers of companies like Airtel and Vodafone dropped drastically. Jio has grabbed crores of subscribers in a short period of time by offering very low cost recharge plans. Due to this, other companies were forced to offer recharge plans at low cost. Due to this tremendous growth of Jio, Airtel and Vodafone also competed and introduced many recharge plans for their subscribers at low prices.

Many companies were lost in this crisis. Jio took the number one spot by gaining the most subscribers. After that, Airtel has been competing fiercely and has maintained its position and is currently in the second position.

In this case, Airtel, which has been offering recharge plans at low rates, has been slowly increasing its prices recently. Airtel has announced that it will further increase the price of its recharge plans in the middle of this year. They have now canceled their Rs.99 basic plan, which is the cheapest in many regions, and introduced a new basic plan at Rs.155. Sunil Mittal, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel, said that Airtel has taken this decision due to declining profitability.

Talking about this, Sunil Mittal said, “Everything like salary, rent has gone up. Except this one. Subscribers use almost 30 GB of data without paying. Companies like Vodafone, Idea have disappeared in the country. In this environment, a strong telecom company is needed.” said.

Also, talking about the increase in the price of recharge plans, he said, “Airtel has invested a lot to keep its presence strong. But the reality is that there is no profit from it. The return on capital in this industry is very low. That has to change. Especially in the context of India, the price of recharge plans has to be adjusted.” The hike is a must. I hope it will be implemented by the middle of this year,” he said.
