New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday that Ajay Ratra has been appointed as a member of the men’s selection committee. Ratra will replace Salil Ankola in the committee headed by Ajit Agarkar. Other members of the committee are Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee and Sridharan Sharat. Wicketkeeper-batsman Ratra represented India in six Tests and 12 ODIs. He has also served as the head coach of Assam, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Let us tell you that Ajay Ratra has also been a part of the Indian coaching team in the 2023 ODI series. BCCI issued a statement saying, ‘The Cricket Advisory Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday named Ajay Ratra as the new member of the men’s selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar. Ratra will replace Salil Ankola in the committee. Ratra is a former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman. He brings with him experience of both domestic and international cricket.’ In the 6 Test matches played for India, Ajay scored 163 runs at an average of 18. He also has a century in his name in Tests. Apart from this, 90 runs have been seen from Ratra’s bat in 12 ODIs.
The Indian board had invited applications for one selector post as two selectors were from the same zone (West). Agarkar and Ankola were from the West zone and there was no selector from the North zone. As per tradition, all five selectors represent different zones and Ratra will represent the North zone in the committee headed by Ajit Agarkar.

42-year-old wicketkeeper batsman Ajay Ratra has played 99 first class matches, 89 List A matches and 17 T20 matches in domestic cricket while playing for Haryana. Ajay has scored 4029 runs in first class cricket, 1381 in List A and 191 runs in T20.
