Jaipur: Before the 16th season of the Indian Premier League, former player Akash Chopra has a doubt about Rajasthan Royals’ Malayali cricketer Sanju Samson. Chopra says that Sanju may face difficulties in the first matches as he is coming back from injury.
“When Sanju Samson plays well, batting is enjoyable to watch. Sanju is coming back from injury. Sanju hasn’t played competitive cricket in a while. That might be difficult for Sanju at the start of the IPL at times. Sanju was the reason Yuzvendra Chahal won the purple cap last season. Sanju is growing into a mature captain. Devdutt Patikal cannot perform well in the middle order. Rajasthan Royals have Shimron Hetmyer. He was a good performer last season, especially against spin. Like Jaiswal, Rian Parag is having a great domestic season. So far, Parag has not been able to bring that much impact to the Rajasthan team. Akash Chopra also said that Rajasthan Royals may try Jason Holder at number six.
Sanju Samson injured his knee while fielding in the India-Sri Lanka first Twenty20 at Wankhede earlier this year. Although he is fully recovered from the injury, Sanju has not played any matches since the injury.
