Former member of the Transitional Council, Abdul Razzaq Al-Aradi, stressed the need to improve the education system in Libya to enhance the quality of education and enhance the skills of teachers and students alike, which contributes to reducing the phenomenon of cheating and making it a crime subject to legal and societal accountability, and supporting comprehensive progress and sustainable development of society.

In an article published on the “Ain Libya” network, Al-Aradi said that in order to improve the education system, urgent and necessary first aid must be provided by appointing an international center to supervise this aid.

According to Al-Aradi, these procedures are as follows:

  • Review the qualifications of all current teachers to ensure that they have the skills and experience necessary to teach efficiently, and dismiss reserve teachers who hinder the educational process and refer them to the workforce.
  • Regularly retraining and licensing qualified teachers to ensure that their skills are updated and developed. For example, obtaining a teaching license that is renewed periodically, as teachers must prove their ability to keep up with educational developments, otherwise they will be transferred to the workforce.
  • Issuing legislation that secures the educational process, imposes strict penalties against violators, and adopts a strict system to restore integrity and confidence in the educational process, such as a code of ethics that defines standards of professional conduct for teachers and organizes mechanisms to monitor their compliance with them.
  • Repair and modernize educational infrastructure.
  • Developing strong scientific educational curricula that are appropriate to the needs of society, enhance skills, and keep pace with modern developments in the fields of science and technology.
