“Al-Baour” holds a series of meetings in Copenhagen

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Al-Taher Al-Baour, held a series of meetings on the sidelines of his participation in the 21st session of the meeting of foreign ministers of African countries and their counterparts from northern European countries, held in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, under the slogan “Multilateralism and Promoting Intra-Trade Exchanges and Investments.”

On the sidelines of the session, Al-Baour held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of the participating countries, to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on various topics on the agenda of the ministerial meeting.

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, Espen Barth Ede, during which the two sides welcomed each other. They also discussed the paths of bilateral relations that bind the two countries and emphasized making more efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation and push it to more comprehensive levels in a way that serves the interests of the peoples of the two friendly countries.

Al-Baour also met with the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, Mounir Benjiba, where the two sides praised the depth of the close fraternal relations and ties that bring together the two brotherly peoples and countries based on mutual interests and joint cooperation.

In the same context, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government, Taher Al-Baour, met with Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf; The meeting reviewed the distinguished fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, as well as consultation and coordination on the most prominent developments on the regional and international arenas and the topics on the meeting’s agenda.

Al-Baour held a meeting with South African Foreign Minister Grace Nadley Mendes, during which views were exchanged on various regional and international issues in the region, the most important of which are ways to support the cause of the brotherly Palestinian people in international forums. As well as ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop cooperation between Libya and South Africa in support of national reconciliation and stability efforts in the country.

Al-Baour also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, Jean Odingo Jeji Abu Bakhar, during which the strengthening and development of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries was discussed, as well as the exchange of views on various issues of common interest, especially the role of the African Union in supporting the political process leading to the holding of national elections. The two sides also discussed the file of Libyan investments in Uganda and the resumption of the Ugandan embassy’s work from the capital, Tripoli.

Al-Baour also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Lars Løkke Gasmussen. During the meeting, the importance of Libyan relations with the Scandinavian countries, including Denmark, was emphasized. Ways of economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed, and Danish companies specialized in the fields of renewable energies were invited to support development projects in the country. They also discussed the possibility of lifting the ban on Libyan flights in European airspace, and urged the resumption of the embassy’s work from the capital, Tripoli.

The meeting represented an opportunity to exchange views on various regional and international issues and developments in the political situation in Libya.
