Al-Baour meets with the Spanish Foreign Minister

On the sidelines of the ninth session of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean countries held in Barcelona, ​​Spain, the Acting Foreign Minister of the National Unity Government, Al-Taher Al-Baour, met with the Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albarez.

The two ministers reviewed “the course of bilateral relations and distinguished cooperation between Spain and Libya,” according to what the Libyan Foreign Ministry reported.

Al-Baour explained, “Libya is working to strengthen political cooperation with the Kingdom of Spain, by exchanging official visits and experiences and working to increase the volume of trade exchange in a way that achieves the common interest of the two friendly countries, as he proposed organizing a Libyan-Spanish economic forum during the coming year.”

Al-Baour expressed “the thanks and gratitude of the State of Libya, its government and people, for the position taken by the Spanish government in its support of the Palestinian cause, Spain’s official recognition of the State of Palestine, and its continued demand for the necessity of a ceasefire in the war waged by the Zionist entity against Gaza and Lebanon.”

He pointed out that “the Kingdom of Spain’s recognition of the State of Palestine is a step in the right path, standing by truth and justice, putting an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people, and working to achieve the two-state solution.”

Al-Baour also praised “Spain’s position towards the ongoing war in Lebanon, and called for the necessity of implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 1701 to stop the ongoing war in Lebanon.”

For his part, the Spanish minister stressed “the importance of strengthening relations,” expressing “Spain’s full readiness to work with the national unity government in all areas of common interest.”
