The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Al-Taher Al-Baour, participated in the international conference held today in the capital, Tripoli, under the slogan “Reality and Challenges” to discuss issues of air sovereignty in light of the current geopolitical transformations.
The conference witnessed “discussions about the contributions made to lift the air embargo on Libya and enhance cooperation between countries to exchange technical expertise to keep pace with international developments, and enhance civil-military coordination in accordance with the standards of international organizations related to air safety.”
“The preparatory workshop for the International Conference on Air Sovereignty began this morning in the capital, Tripoli, which is organized and supervised by the Ministry of Defense with the participation of relevant authorities.”
The workshop witnessed “the presence of the President of the Supreme Council of State, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Chiefs of Air Defense Staff, along with representatives of the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Transportation, Libyan army officers, and experts in the fields of aviation and international law.”
During the opening session, the Director of the Office of the Minister of Defense stressed “the importance of the conference in strengthening the sovereignty of the Libyan state, noting the Ministry’s commitment to developing military capabilities to extend control over the land, sea and air borders.”
The second session of the workshop also addressed major proposals that “will be discussed during the conference, with comments provided by specialists to support the strategic goals related to the sovereignty of the Libyan airspace.”
It is noteworthy that the International Air Sovereignty Conference will be held in the second half of February 2025, with broad participation from international institutions and organizations.
