Al-Baour presents a briefing on Libya’s situation in the Security Council

The person in charge of running the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taher Al-Baour, met with the permanent representatives and their deputies of the member states of the Security Council, in the presence of the Director of the Organizations Department at the Ministry, and Libya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

During the meeting, Al-Baour provided a briefing on the current situation in Libya, including developments in the political, economic and security tracks.

During the meeting, he stressed “the pivotal role of the Security Council in supporting efforts to end the transitional stages and reach elections in Libya according to fair and just laws.”

This came on the sidelines of Libya’s participation in the Security Council ministerial session dedicated to discussing the item “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.” The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on the importance of the international community continuing to support Libya during the democratic transition phase, as well as discussing the risks threatening this transition and the importance of preventing Libya from returning to a state of division.
