Al-Burhan dismisses his former ally, Hamidti, from the Sovereignty Council

Watan Al-Youm: Reuters reported that the Sudanese army commander, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued a constitutional decree relieving the deputy head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, “Hamidti,” from his post, as of Friday.
Al-Burhan also appointed former rebel leader Malik Agar as vice president of the Sovereignty Council, which has been a member of the Council since March 2021.
The exemption came a month after the outbreak of armed confrontations between the army, led by Al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by “Hemedti”, after differences over the fate of the paramilitary forces.
The Sudanese Sovereign Council, or the Sudanese Sovereign Council, was formed following an agreement between the Transitional Military Council and the Sudanese Declaration of Freedom and Change Alliance, who agreed that the Council would consist of 11 people, five soldiers chosen by the Transitional Council and five civilians chosen by the Forces of Change Alliance, in addition to a civilian whom the two sides agree to choose. .
After the transitional government and the “Revolutionary Front” factions signed the peace agreement in Juba in October 2020, three new members joined the Sudanese Sovereignty Council in March 2021, including Malik Aqar, who was appointed to succeed Hamidti.
Among the tasks of the Council are the appointment of the Prime Minister chosen by the Forces of Freedom and Change, the approval of members of the Council of Ministers appointed by the Prime Minister, the approval of state governors after their appointment by the Prime Minister, the approval of the appointment of members of the Transitional Legislative Council, the approval of the formation of the Higher Judicial Council, and the approval of ambassadors Sudan abroad with a nomination by the Council of Ministers, and the acceptance and accreditation of foreign ambassadors to Sudan.
The Sudanese Sovereign Council came as compensation for the Sudanese Transitional Military Council, which ruled Sudan between April 11 and August 20, 2019; After the removal of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
On April 15, armed confrontations broke out in Khartoum between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, after the relationship between them exploded during the security and military reform workshop that was held last March.
The army presented its technical papers during the reform workshop, proposing a two-year period to integrate the “rapid support” into the armed forces, while the “rapid support” presented a paper demanding ten years, with all its political and financial privileges remaining.
