During a meeting held today, Tuesday, the head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, followed up on the work plan of the Antiquities Authority and the conditions of archaeological cities in Libya, in addition to plans to develop the National Museum, after completing the approved development plan.
The meeting was attended, along with Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, Chairman of the Antiquities Authority Management Committee, a number of members of the committee, and directors of relevant departments, where the proposed plan for the maintenance of the historic Red Saraya building was reviewed, with the aim of preserving it and transforming it into a cultural space, with Removing the administrative offices from it.”
The meeting also touched on “the file of returning Libyan antiquities smuggled abroad, where Al-Dabaiba stressed the need to intensify national and international efforts to recover them, stressing that they represent an important part of Libya’s cultural and historical identity.”
The Prime Minister stressed, “the commitment of the National Unity Government to support projects aimed at protecting the Libyan cultural heritage and developing the infrastructure for archaeological sites and museums, in a way that enhances the cultural tourism sector and contributes to highlighting Libya’s history.”
