Yesterday morning, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed received, at the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa, the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, and his accompanying delegation, and they held an expanded meeting, in the presence of the Ministers of Finance, Transportation, Youth, Labor, Rehabilitation, and State for Cabinet Affairs from the Libyan side, and the Ministers of Labour, Irrigation, Water Resources, and Infrastructure. Infrastructure, reconstruction, foreign affairs and advisor to the Prime Minister from the Ethiopian side.

Abiy Ahmed welcomed “Dabaiba’s visit to Ethiopia, considering it an important step for the return of cooperation between the two countries after a hiatus of more than twenty years.”

In his speech, Al-Dabaiba affirmed “Libya’s desire to restore cooperation between the two countries in all political, economic, and security fields through consultation and communication between the two governments, and coordination on various regional issues of concern.”

During the meeting, the holding of the Libyan-Ethiopian Supreme Committee, which had not been held since 2004, was discussed between the various institutions in the two countries. A number of joint files were also discussed, the most important of which was the organization of Ethiopian expatriate workers, the return of airlines to work in Libya, and the Libyan loans granted to Ethiopia, and scheduling their repayment, in addition to a number of files. Political relations between the two countries and an emphasis on unifying and supporting efforts on the African continent to support Libya in holding elections and ending the transitional stages. Investment opportunities in the field of agriculture, animal production and a number of other fields were also discussed.

Dabaiba invited the Ethiopian Prime Minister to visit Libya with the aim of continuing coordination and cooperation between the two countries.
