The implementation of the various axes of this program, in application of the High Royal Instructions, has recorded positive progress in several sectors and at several levels, indicated Mr. Akhannouch in a statement to the press at the end of the 11th meeting of the Inter-ministerial Commission responsible for the reconstruction and general rehabilitation program of the areas damaged by the Al-Haouz earthquake.

“All the departments involved have worked continuously with seriousness and dynamism during this period,” added the head of government, stressing that the State has put in place all the conditions to facilitate the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged houses, by offering families financial aid and reconstruction permits, with free technical assistance.

In this regard, he reported on the progress of construction sites for 49,632 housing units, following the issuance of approximately 55,000 construction permits, while aid for the reconstruction of totally or partially collapsed housing units, amounting to 20,000 dirhams, reached the fourth tranche for families who have reached advanced stages in the reconstruction of their homes, which enabled 1,000 families to complete the reconstruction and rehabilitation work of their homes.

Mr. Akhannouch expressed, in this regard, the wish to see other families accelerate construction operations in order to benefit from the consecutive stages of support from the State, noting that 63,862 families were able to benefit from the monthly aid of 2,500 dirhams for eleven out of twelve months.

The Head of Government also reported on the implementation of a number of sectoral projects, while other projects are in the process of being completed, noting, in this regard, that the rehabilitation works of 54 kilometers of rural roads have been completed and that great progress has been made in the rehabilitation works of national road No. 7 linking Al Haouz to Taroudant via Talat N’Yaaqoub.

Regarding the agricultural sector, Mr. Akhannouch emphasized the completion of the operation of distributing livestock and barley to farmers, noting that their needs have been met.

As for the education sector, the head of government indicated that 111 schools are now ready to welcome students for the current school year, in addition to 58 schools that will be ready next November and 52 others in February 2025.

He stressed that these schools will accommodate around 19,000 students, with the prospect of seeing 1,287 schools, which are currently undergoing rehabilitation and development work, accommodate students for the 2025/2026 school year.

Regarding the health sector, Mr. Akhannouch reported the completion of rehabilitation work on 42 health centers which will be opened in the coming weeks.

He added that the operation to clear debris and rubble resulting from the earthquake reached a rate of between 92 and 95% depending on the area, which constitutes a “very positive” result given the difficult nature of the operation, stressing that monitoring and support efforts will continue to allow disaster-stricken residents to return home.
