Al Hoceima: opening of a judicial inquiry to elucidate the causes of the death of an individual suspected of having consumed harmful alcoholic substances (security source)
Rabat – The regional service of the judicial police of Al Hoceima opened, Friday morning, a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to elucidate the causes and circumstances of the death of an individual suspected of having consumed alcoholic substances harmful to public health, we learned from a security source.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the person concerned would have consumed, in the company of other people, drinks mixed with methylated spirits in a mountainous area near Al Hoceima, following which three of them were affected by a malaise which required their transfer to the local hospital to receive treatment, explains the same source, adding that one of them died.
The investigations carried out allowed the identification of five people who had ingested the same drinks mixed with alcohol with the deceased, including an individual who was taken into custody for a case of drunkenness and disturbance on the public highway, the same source said, noting that all these individuals underwent a medical examination at the local hospital.
The judicial police seized quantities of liquids and bottles of alcohol as well as inspected the body of the deceased before it was taken to the morgue for the autopsy ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office, the same source said.
Investigations are underway to apprehend possible accomplices in the marketing of these harmful alcoholic substances, it was concluded.
