Al-Huwaij discusses strengthening economic and trade relations with Tunisia

The Minister of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Huwaij, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the State of Libya, Asaad Al-Ajili.

During the meeting, “economic cooperation was discussed, trade movement through joint land ports was monitored, and procedures for the passage of goods and services between the two sides were facilitated, in light of the noticeable activity in economic and trade relations between the two countries.”

The meeting also addressed “the importance of establishing a joint working mechanism to support the private sector, business owners and companies, and opening investment horizons to enhance trade relations, and benefit from mutual resources and expertise, in a way that contributes to enhancing economic integration and achieving mutual benefit between the two countries.”

During the meeting, “the necessity of holding the Joint Higher Trade Committee, headed by the prime ministers of the two countries, was emphasized, to be held as soon as possible in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.”

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mohammed Al-Raid, the Director of the Minister’s Office, Adel Kashir, the International Relations Coordinator, Ezz El-Din Musaddiq, and the Commercial Attaché at the Tunisian Embassy, ​​Abdel Razzaq Al-Muadab.

Al-Huwaij met with the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Sven Kroesbe, “to discuss the current economic and financial challenges in Libya, explore compromise solutions, and enhance long-term and sustainable economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.”

During the meeting, “the recommendations of the joint economic and trade forum, which was held in the capital Tripoli during the past period, were discussed, and the possibility of implementing them according to a time plan, with reference to the necessity and importance of cooperation between the competent department in the ministry, and the affiliated bodies with the commercial office at the embassy, ​​in networking the Libyan-German private sector by facilitating the procedures for issuing visas for company owners, businesses and investors from both sides, to participate in the economic activities planned to be held to achieve the required economic cooperation.”

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Legal Affairs Department, the Head of the International Cooperation Department, the Ministry’s Relations Coordinator, and the Cooperation and Development Officer at the German Embassy.
