The Speaker of the House of Representatives sent an official letter to the Attorney General, demanding that a criminal case be filed against all those involved in what he described as “storming the headquarters of the Central Bank of Libya” in Tripoli.

Aguila Saleh accused the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity of being “behind this operation,” saying that they are “crimes that amount to felonies by attacking the sanctity of this place and the freedom of its employees, seizing the bank’s balances, and halting the work of its systems, which has disrupted banking work in general.”

The Speaker of the House of Representatives asked the Public Prosecution to “inform the House of Representatives of the measures it took after the investigation began.”

In the same context, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer, in his capacity as Governor of the Central Bank, also sent a report to the MP in which he accused 6 officials (Abdul Fattah Ghaffar, Muhammad Al-Shahoubi, Ali Ishtiwi, Adel Ishtiwi, Fathi Al-Majbari, and Muhammad Al-Quraish) on the background of the incident of “storming the Central Bank,” as he described it.

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya, assigned by the Presidential Council, announced last Monday, after entering the bank’s headquarters, that it had assumed full management of the bank, and was committed to a smooth transition, warning against “attempts at disruption by the previous administration,” according to its statement.
