Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer submitted a report to the Attorney General regarding what he called “a group storming” the headquarters of the Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli, accompanied by the committee formed by the Presidential Council.

Al-Kabeer added in his statement that the Central Bank is a public sovereign institution that is subject to the legislative authority, and that the Presidential Council’s decisions regarding the assignment of a governor and a board of directors for the Central Bank were issued by someone who is not competent, according to him.

Al-Kabeer pointed out that the decisions of the Presidential Council were invalidated by the House of Representatives’ decision regarding the appointment of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, his deputy, and its Board of Directors.

Al-Kabeer held the Presidential Council and those involved with it fully responsible for this act, saying that it poses a serious threat to the most important financial institution in the country and will have negative repercussions domestically and abroad, according to his description.

For his part, Khaled Al-Mishri expressed his rejection of what he called the Presidential Council’s encroachment on the powers of legislative bodies against the backdrop of the Central Bank case.

Al-Mishri added in a statement published on the Facebook page of the media office of the Supreme Council of State, that he rejects these decisions because they were issued by someone who is not competent, noting that local and international bodies should not deal with the assigned administration because it is illegitimate and usurping power, according to his description.

The statement stressed that it will take legal measures to preserve their rights in accordance with the political agreement and the constitutional declaration.

Ali Shtewi, a member of the committee assigned by the Presidential Council to receive and hand over the management of the Central Bank, confirmed that the new Board of Directors of the Central Bank has received its full administrative duties and will begin its work from the bank’s headquarters starting today, Sunday.

Shtewi explained to “Libya Al-Ahrar” that the new governor of the Central Bank, Mohamed Al-Shokri, did not apologize for his position, but he had reservations about the circumstances of the handover, noting that he will begin his work at the bank today, Sunday.
