It seems that the relationship between Nasser al-Khalafi and Real Madrid is still murky. Although invited, Paris Saint-Germain president chose not to appear for the joint dinner with Florentino Perez and UEFA president Alexander Chaprin in Paris on the eve of the Champions League final between the Blancos and Liverpool tonight (Saturday, 22:00).
There have been quite a few well-publicized messages between Real and PSG in the past year following the Killian Ambape saga and the City of Lights did not hide the fact that they are furious at Real’s conduct to “steal” their player, who eventually chose to stay on his team.
The meeting between Peres and Chaprin is not routine at all. The UEFA president has repeatedly spoken out against the Blancos as they are one of three clubs that have not yet parted ways with the Super League project (along with Barcelona and Juventus). Chaprin recently even claimed that “neither Real nor anyone will tell the UEFA how to act”, when asked to address La Liga’s anger over Paris’ salary spending in Ambape’s new contract.
