On Sunday, the two deputies of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, received the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo. The meeting discussed the latest developments and ways to advance the political process in Libya.
During the meeting, the two representatives stressed the importance of working to reach consensual solutions between all Libyan parties, through a comprehensive national dialogue, aiming to reach a political settlement that ends the crisis, the files of local governance, management of financial expenditures, and national reconciliation.
The media office of the Council conveyed the two representatives’ praise for the role of the UN mission in supporting the political track to find a peaceful solution to the political crisis in Libya, and stressing the importance of regional consensus that enhances local consensus internally in Libya.
For her part, DiCarlo stressed her support for the reconciliation process led by the Presidential Council, and the necessity of continuing these efforts, in parallel with working on the elections process.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Acting Head of the UN Mission, Stephanie Khoury.
