Al-Lafi discusses with the Congolese Foreign Minister Brazzaville the challenges facing national reconciliation

Representative in the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs in Brazzaville, Jean-Claude Jacossou, whose country chairs the high-level committee on the Libyan issue, and the African Union’s advisor for reconciliation, Mohamed Hassan Al-Labat.

The media office of the two councils stated that the attendees discussed the challenges and obstacles that led to the postponement of the convening of the comprehensive national reconciliation conference according to the date that was set during the previous preparatory meetings.

Al-Lafi stressed the importance of restoring confidence between all parties, and that the Presidential Council is the legitimate umbrella and not the ruler of the national reconciliation project, praising the role of the African Union Commission and the Republic of the Congo in searching for a comprehensive solution to the Libyan crisis, especially the national reconciliation file, which will establish a new phase of stability. And peace in Libya.

In turn, the Congolese Minister stressed the importance of overcoming the causes of faltering efforts in order to continue work on the reconciliation issue, and achieving the entitlement of the inclusive National Conference, by building confidence again, without excluding any party, praising the efforts of the Presidential Council in laying the foundations of reconciliation and stability in the country.

The meeting was attended by the Congolese Ambassador to Libya.
