Baghdad – WAA – Mustafa Essam

Member of the Iraqi Football Association, Ahmed Al-Moussawi, confirmed that the Asian Federation’s selection of the city’s international stadium to host the match between Al-Shorta and Al-Nasr is evidence of the readiness of Baghdad’s stadiums to host high-level matches, noting that today’s match is a gateway to hosting our national team’s matches in Baghdad.

Al-Moussawi told the (INA) today, Monday: “The Asian Federation imposed very high standards this year to hold the AFC Champions League matches for elite clubs, and during its visit to the city’s international stadium and Iraq’s commitment to implementing those standards, it agreed to hold the match in Baghdad,” indicating that “the approval of the continental federation indicates the readiness of all stadiums in Iraq to host high-level matches.”

Al-Moussawi added, “This match will be a gateway to holding the national team’s matches during the coming period, whether in the World Cup qualifiers or other tournaments, in the stadiums of the capital, Baghdad, especially since the Asian Federation does not object to holding matches in Baghdad.”

Al-Moussawi added, “The match received great attention at the public and media levels due to the presence of the Saudi Al-Nasr team in Baghdad, and we hope that we will succeed, as usual, in organizing this match and conveying a beautiful image of Iraqi football and the football-loving public.”
