Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) is putting the new 50 dirham note into circulation starting this Tuesday, as part of the 25th anniversary of the arrival of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Following the release of the new series of banknotes and coins, the new 50 dirham note emphasizes Morocco’s sustainable development through the national strategy of clean energy and the protection of natural resources, BAM states in a press release.
The obverse of this note features a portrait of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Coat of Arms of the Kingdom as well as an architectural motif inspired by Moroccan doors and a stylized view of the Ouzoud waterfalls, reports the same source.
The back of the note features stylized views of the Ouarzazate Solar Station “NOOR”, wind turbines, the Ouirgane dam as well as the Agadir seawater desalination station.
This new banknote incorporates the most advanced technologies in terms of security elements, such as the security thread with a dynamic color change effect, the iridescent strip on the back, the front / back marking pattern, the patterns with noticeable relief for the visually impaired and numbering with progressive characters.
All stages of the design and production of this new banknote were carried out exclusively by the Moroccan skills of Dar As-Sikkah, concludes the press release.
