Al-Manfi calls on the House of Representatives to choose a governor for the Central Bank in a public and transparent session

The head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, issued a statement on the Central Bank crisis and the latest developments, noting that “the country stands on the threshold of a new era in its national journey characterized by accountability in the financial sector.”

Al-Manfi said in his statement: “The priority now is to preserve the independence of the Central Bank of Libya, implement the principles of governance and collective leadership, reduce inflation that burdens the Libyan citizen, and provide the liquidity needed to move the economy.”

The head of the Presidential Council called on “the House of Representatives to return to the political agreement that it had frozen by a unilateral decision, and to play its role by quickly selecting a governor for the Central Bank, in a public and transparent legal session, and in consultation with the Supreme Council of State.”

The statement stressed the Presidential Council’s commitment to “holding fair elections, to enable the Libyan people to determine their fate and renew the legitimacy of their institutions.”
