The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, discussed with the new Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union, Tarek Ben Salem, ways to activate the work of the Union and the nature of participation in the mid-term coordination meeting of the African Union.
According to the Presidential Council, the meeting, which was held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, on the sidelines of the sixth semi-annual coordination meeting between the African Union and the regional economic groups, discussed ways to activate the work of the Arab Maghreb Union and the nature of participation in the semi-annual coordination meeting of the African Union.
During the meeting, the two parties also discussed integration between the African Union, the Arab Maghreb Union and the rest of the regional economic groups, and the reactivation of the sectoral ministerial committees and the Union’s institutions and bodies.
Al-Manfi arrived in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, yesterday afternoon, to participate in the 6th semi-annual coordination meeting between the African Union, the regional economic groups and the African mechanisms, which will be held today, Sunday, in the presence of the heads of state and government of the countries that chair the economic groups.
