The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, held bilateral discussions this Wednesday evening, at the Mouradia Palace in the Algerian capital, with the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Mohamed Menfi offered “congratulations to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on his victory in the presidential elections and the Algerian people’s renewed confidence in him,” expressing his “great appreciation for the strong bilateral relations that bind the two brotherly countries.”
The meeting discussed “ways to enhance fraternal bilateral relations between the two countries, and issues of common interest, in addition to the depth and centrality of the strategic relations between Libya and Algeria, especially in light of the threats facing the region, and the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation to overcome the current delicate stage that the Arab region and the Islamic world is going through.” “Foremost among them is the Palestinian issue.”
It was also stressed “the mutual keenness to translate the historical relations and ties between the two countries by strengthening bilateral institutional mechanisms and constantly following up on various aspects of bilateral relations and ways to develop them.”
In turn, the Algerian President affirmed the depth of the historical relationship that brings together the two brotherly peoples in various fields, and his continued support for the President of the Presidential Council in all his steps to reach a comprehensive political settlement that leads to fair and transparent parliamentary and presidential elections, in addition to his support for the national reconciliation project adopted by the Council. He also stressed the importance of continuing cooperation. Joint efforts in all fields to enhance stability and development in the region.”
