The President of the Presidential Council and President of the Arab Maghreb Union, “Mohamed Menfi,” received this Sunday morning, at the Council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, the Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb union, “Tariq Ben Salem.”
The meeting dealt with “ways to activate the work of the Maghreb Union, and everything that would enhance joint Maghreb action in all fields and sectors, activate its organs and institutions, and reactivate the sectoral ministerial committees and its institutions, along with strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation that bind the member states and their peoples and a common policy approach in various fields.” .
It is noteworthy that the last summit held at the level of leaders of the maghreb countries was in 1994 in Tunisia, due to the obstacles that the Arab Maghreb Union has faced sence its establishment to activate its structures and achieve Maghreb unity.
It is noteworthy that the Arab Maghreb Union is a regional organization founded in 1989, in the city of Marrakesh in the kingdom of Morocco, and consists of 5 countries located in the western part of the Arab world: Algeria, Morocco, tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania.
